About the role
Nu Global AG is Nu's Swiss entity, based in Zug. It went live in October 2026 with its AML/CFT and sanctions framework already in place: entity risk analysis, internal directives, customer risk classification, monitoring and screening standards, and MROS reporting. The same team also drives the next steps of Nu's expansion in Europe.
We are looking for a senior AML professional to act as deputy to the Head of AML/CFTP & Sanctions. In 2027 you will take over the day to day MLRO duties of the Swiss entity, so the Head of AML can focus on strategy, and you will help take the framework built in Switzerland to new markets in Europe, adapting it to the new EU AML package (AMLR and AMLD6).
You will join a small, senior team where everyone owns their decisions and does the work themselves. You will work directly with senior management, the first line, our auditors and our regulators.
You'll be responsible for
-
Act as deputy to the AML Compliance Officer (MLRO) and stand in whenever needed
-
Run the day to day MLRO activities: escalated cases, decisions on reports to MROS under Art. 9 AMLA through goAML, and sanctions duties towards SECO, including asset freezes
-
Review and challenge the first line: sample based quality assurance of alert handling and case files, and sign off on changes to transaction monitoring rules and screening thresholds
-
Keep the framework current: entity risk analysis, internal directives and procedures, and the annual AML/CFT report to the Board
-
Issue the financial crime opinion on new products, features and material changes at the Product Risk Committee
-
Be the point of contact for our SRO, MROS, SECO and the external AML auditor, and for due diligence requests from partner and correspondent institutions
-
Own the AML/CFT training plan and the training duty under Art. 8 AMLA
-
As Nu expands in Europe, adapt the Swiss framework to the new EU AML package (AMLR and AMLD6) and turn it into binding control requirements for product, engineering and operations
We are looking for someone who has
-
Served as MLRO, AML Compliance Officer or formal deputy at a regulated financial intermediary in Switzerland, supervised by FINMA or an SRO, or in the EU (mandatory)
-
Lives in Switzerland today (mandatory)
-
Meets the fit and proper requirements that regulators apply to AML officers (mandatory)
-
Holds the CAMS certification (mandatory)
-
Speaks fluent English, our working language, and fluent German (mandatory)
-
Has practical experience with the Swiss AML framework (AMLA, AMLO, FINMA AMLO and SRO rules, MROS and SECO reporting), the EU AML framework, or both, and a working knowledge of the new EU AML package (AMLR and AMLD6)
-
Has built or set up an AML function or framework
-
Has taken and defended reporting and freezing decisions, and has dealt directly with FINMA, SROs, other regulators and external auditors
-
Has reviewed and challenged first line controls at a senior level: transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, KYC and customer risk classification
-
Writes clearly and precisely in policies, opinions and regulatory correspondence
Nice to have
-
Sanctions expertise: screening, list management, asset freezes and reporting under Swiss and EU sanctions regimes
-
Experience with international remittances and cross border payments
-
Travel Rule compliance, including for digital assets
-
Experience in a fintech or in a newly authorised financial institution
-
Comfort using data and AI tools to review alerts, test controls and draft documentation
-
Other certifications such as CGSS, CCAS, Chainalysis Reactor or Chainalysis KYT (recommended)
Location for this opportunity
-
Zug, Switzerland (you must live in Switzerland today)
